Facial hair affects many women: blond down, brown down, mustache, brown or blond hair on the cheeks... And many are looking to get rid of it!

Different techniques exist, which treat:

• the visible part of the hair: shaving and chemical dissolution,
• the visible and invisible part of the hair: waxing,
• the hair bulb: laser techniques.

Techniques that only treat the visible part are ineffective in the long term. Laser technique is well suited for brown hair but has some ineffectiveness when it comes to blond hair, and significant side effects (risks of hypo or hyperpigmentation in general) in exchange for some effectiveness.

Only waxing is quite well tolerated and offers a definite slowing of hair regrowth, but it remains painful when it comes to the face.

COMPOSITION

For years, our laboratory has been looking for a cosmetic solution to promote the reduction of facial hair, targeting the invisible part of the hair, which would slow down hair growth while progressively reducing hairiness. It was by researching natural molecules known for their ability to slow the growth of certain microorganisms that we selected palmatine extracted from the root of Fibraurea recisa.

Fibraurea recisa is an Asian plant that grows wild in mountainous regions, and whose flowering period is from May to August. The roots are used in traditional medicine to treat otitis, cystitis, gastritis and in cosmetics to slow down the division of keratinocytes in the hair bulb, which causes hair growth.

This hair growth reducer is a real technological treatment. The active ingredients are encapsulated in micro-capsules that will release them along the hair shaft to one-third of its depth to progressively reduce hair growth.

The micro-capsules are invisible to the naked eye (5 µm in diameter) and each treatment contains billions of them. Thus, the action of the active ingredients is optimally targeted, and the hair will become thinner and thinner, until it disappears.

Clinical tests carried out with a similar formulation containing the DEPILINE active ingredient on a panel of 25 volunteers over two months revealed:

• An average decrease in hair growth rate of 15% and up to 36% in the five best cases,
• An average hair reduction of 31% and up to 48% in the five best cases,

In addition, self-assessment by the panelists yielded the following results:

• 90% of panelists found that the hair regrowth inhibitor moisturized the skin,
• 73% observed a slowing of hair regrowth,
• 72% believed that hair density had decreased.
